Our new City Sized Seating™ Downtown location features smaller scale flexible, functional urban seating, perfect for apartments, condos, lofts, townhomes and full-size homes.

We specialize in sofas, modular deep sectionals, sofa-beds (with amazing mattresses), pairs of chairs, recliners and seating that disassembles and reassembles (we’ll do it for you upon delivery!) for easy access into most tight spaces (and small elevators and narrow stairways!). We provide a free “check-measure” service if you are in-doubt of the fit.

Newly opened in Summer 2022, there are two spacious levels, accessible by stairs and elevator, of beautiful seating. The comprehensive selection includes sofas, sofa-beds, sectionals, loveseats, chairs, recliners, lift-chairs, home theatre, ottomans and more. Beautiful accessories include rugs, wall-art, tables and barstools. In-stock or special order, there’s a perfect item for every space.

The Chesterfield Shop opened it’s original location in Toronto’s Junction selling sofa-beds. Over the past 7 decades, The Chesterfield Shop remains family-owned and operated, and has evolved into 6 wonderful locations in the GTA and Newmarket– and sofa-beds are still our thing. They come in all shapes, from single and full to Queen and King. With easy-to-open contract mechanisms, and a large selection of Posturepedic or gel mattresses, there is a comfortable sleeping option for everyone. In-stock or special order.

The Chesterfield Shop carries City-Size™Seating designed to look proportionally beautiful and easily fit into smaller spaces. Many of the sofa we carry have arms and backs that can be removed and reassembled for impossibly tight spaces. We offer complimentary check-measures if there’s any doubt- we do our best to ensure a “no-fit” doesn’t occur.

We looked around a lot for new
Living room furniture …wanting to upgrade despite being in our early 70s…thinking there was no need to become like our grandparents who kept their stuff forever…(or to be fair maybe could not afford the luxury of changes). So - we eventually found Stephen at the Chesterfield Shop…delightful and productive experience that helped
Us decide among myriad options. …very good quality furniture at a good price without the hype of “cool” marketing or aggressive (or worse, blase) salesmanship…we highly recommend this place, and Stephen!

Stephen was a great sales person. He didn't put any pressure on us at all and he took great pains to answer are all our questions.

The chair is good looking but it was like a new member of the family. I had to get used to it. Stephen helped me with that. Now I love it even though my feet extend beyond the foot rest. That may change over time as the chair gets worked in.

It's impossible to purchase good quality seating without sitting or lying on it (sofa-bed) or reclining (recliner or lift chair), you have to feel the foam, or feathers, or combination, the backing, height, depth, pillows, fabric, leather....a purchase from a picture on a website is always a mistake.

UPDATE: After posting the review below, the VP of Sales and Operations reached out to me personally to discuss my experience. He was genuinely concerned and committed to addressing what happened. I wanted to acknowledge that here because it was a very classy gesture from The Chesterfield Shop. It’s extremely rare for someone at a leadership level to personally contact a customer to apologize for poor service, and I’m adding a star to my original rating for that alone. And by the way, I love my new Sofa. It's perfect! Thank you Jim Delpippo for personally reaching out!

ORIGINAL POST (and the facts): The delivery guys were fantastic! However, once the sale was made, Stephen from the King St. store was disconnected and unhappy to answer questions. He's knowledgeable, no doubt. But offers bad customer service after he sells. So for him, it's all about the sale. Too bad.

We looked at a number of high end options (Restoration Hardware etc) and were about to refinance our home and sell our first born when we happened upon The Chesterfield Shop. They had exactly what we were looking for with prices that were surprisingly reasonable for the quality. The delivery timeline was reasonable and the fit and finish is outstanding. We've been living with the new sofa for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier.

One last thing. It's the strangest thing but... our cat normally likes to shred our furniture to bits. Yet there is something about the particular fabric we chose that she doesn't like. Every once in awhile she motions as if she's going to scratch it and then she goes "NOPE" and leaves it alone. This is not to say their furniture is pet resistant. I know we got lucky. But I thought it worth mentioning.
