Our new City Sized Seating™ Downtown location features smaller scale flexible, functional urban seating, perfect for apartments, condos, lofts, townhomes and full-size homes.

We specialize in sofas, modular deep sectionals, sofa-beds (with amazing mattresses), pairs of chairs, recliners and seating that disassembles and reassembles (we’ll do it for you upon delivery!) for easy access into most tight spaces (and small elevators and narrow stairways!). We provide a free “check-measure” service if you are in-doubt of the fit.

The Chesterfield Shop opened it’s original location in Toronto’s Junction selling sofa-beds. Over the past 7 decades, The Chesterfield Shop remains family-owned and operated, and has evolved into 6 wonderful locations in the GTA and Newmarket– and sofa-beds are still our thing. They come in all shapes, from single and full to Queen and King. With easy-to-open contract mechanisms, and a large selection of Posturepedic or gel mattresses, there is a comfortable sleeping option for everyone. In-stock or special order.

The Chesterfield Shop carries City-Size™Seating designed to look proportionally beautiful and easily fit into smaller spaces. Many of the sofa we carry have arms and backs that can be removed and reassembled for impossibly tight spaces. We offer complimentary check-measures if there’s any doubt- we do our best to ensure a “no-fit” doesn’t occur.

Great!! Just great! Okay, so they might be the perfect furniture experience.

Shopping was relaxed with no pressure from the available but not hovering sales person. Like an excellent waiter, you know… she materialized within seconds of my head going up to look for her for questions and then she would disappear again. Just great service in store. A really lovely change from pressure sales in many places.

And then, we were told the chair was going to be 12 weeks for custom order but to call after 8 weeks for a more accurate timeline. It was delivered today at 4 weeks. FOUR! And the delivery people were wonderful! They did everything, even pugged in the recliner.

It is rare to find service this good these days.

Don’t let the unfortunate website fool you. I almost didn’t even bother to visit if it weren’t for the number of glowing recommendations I received from my local Facebook parenting group. We had visited so many stores and sat on so many sofas. When we walked into this store it was a full-body YES. Every single value point in this store was miles above the competition. Let me count the ways: The selection of classic and contemporary styles and performance fabrics was incredible. I mean really customizable, like pick your arm style, leg style, leg colour, chaise, extra middle seat, pull out bed etc. SO many permutations. The flexibility in terms of modular options made it so much easier for us to find something perfectly sized for our small awkward space. Prices are surprisingly reasonable compared to the competition, AND when you factor in the fact they manufacture in Toronto and offer a 5 year unlimited guarantee for a small added fee, I had zero hesitation. The service was friendly and relaxed. Run, don’t walk, if you’re in the market for your next sofa! Stephan was a fabulous salesperson. Highly recommend!
